3 Reasons To Ditch The Sports Drinks


Sports drinks are often marketed as healthy or like they'll somehow aid your body in a positive way but actually they're not a good thing to be drinking, especially if you're goal is to get fitter, stronger & increase your overall health.



They're As Bad As Soda
You wouldn't drink coca-cola or pepsi max and think it was healthy, would you? Unfortunately sports drinks normally contain just as much sugar and nasty chemicals as soda....sometimes even more! The ingredients tend to be extremely artificial and won't do your body any good in the long term.


Coperate Ties To Junk Food
If you look into the manufactures of your favourite sports drink the likelihood is they also manufacture junk food products. E.g Powerade is made by the Coca-Cola company. You think the same company who purposefully targets poor countries with their cheap, rubbish filled drinks are interested in your health & wellbeing? Nah.

Most People Who Drink Them Don't Need Them
The majority of people who consume sports drinks don't actually drink them after physical activity but rather as an afternoon pick me up or just choice of drink throughout the day. The reason these drinks were made was to help elite athletes replace the huge amounts of electrolytes lost during intense workouts - not to help Barry the 9-5 office employee complete his spreadsheet.
The problem with consuming these drinks when you don't need them is it can lead to over hydration which can lead to kidney problems.
