New Year......New Me?

'New Year, new me' is a phrase that we hear a lot in January with people aiming to better themselves and making all these resolutions that are often to do with losing weight, quitting bad habits and generally being a 'better' person, but is this really a healthy and positive way to start a new year?
What if you simply devoted this year to loving and accepting yourself?

Instead of starting the year making huge resolutions to change dramatic things about yourself,  I believe it's far more positive and often far more achievable to start the new with specific aims and intentions that have the purpose of making us feel happier and healthier. These intentions shouldn't be superficial and they shouldn't have a 'to be done by...' deadline, they should just be positive intentions to carry with you throughout the year with no pressure or intensity.

I'm setting you the challenge of focusing more on you this year. That doesn't mean you need to look in the mirror and decide which body part you want to be thinner and it doesn't mean you need to start judging or criticising yourself, but rather it means focus on how you feel and focus on your own relationship with yourself. During 2017 make it your aim to do things that make you happy and edge you that little bit closer to the ultimate goal of self-love. Self-love isn't about vanity or self-obsessiveness, it's simply about being confident and comfortable with your whole self, both with what's on the outside and what's on the inside. It's about learning to accept all your flaws, nourishing not punishing your body and not caring what other people are thinking about you.

I don't want to hear anymore of this 'new year, new me' - forget all that because there is absolutely nothing wrong with the person that you are right now and it's about time we stopped telling ourselves we need to change. During 2017 take more time to do things that make you happy, stop apologising for who you are and be confident in your own skin!

New year, same me....because I'm already freakin' fabulous!
