Top Tip On Setting Achievable Goals in 2017
January is a time many people set goals and ambitions for the coming year but more often than not we end up forgetting about them, getting too overwhelmed or simply just giving up before the first month of the year is even over. There are many tips and tricks on how to stay more focused on your new years resolutions but today I thought I'd share with you one piece of advice that will make achieving your 2017 more likely and they'll be a lot more manageable too.
Before I get started, have a little think about your 2017 resolutions and make sure they're both achievable and healthy. By this I mean don't aim to drop 2 dress sizes within a week and don't focus on superficial targets, but rather opt for goals like eating more fresh, whole foods and working out at least 3 days a week. Once you've set these smart goals then you're ready to hear my top tip on how to reach them!
It's simple...pick 1 resolution every month to focus on!
Part of the reason we give up with our new years resolutions so quickly is because we become too overwhelmed by the mass of goals we've set and they suddenly seem unattainable. But by choosing only one goal every month that problem is solved and you'll be far more likely to stick to it!
It also only takes 21 days to create a habit, so once the month is up you should have got into the habit or the routine of your new resolution and it should have started to become just part of life or something you don't have to think about as much. This means when the next month draws in and you have a new resolution to start you won't be having to focus on the previous months, but instead you're working towards your goal for that month whilst also hopefully staying on top of your previous resolution.
I find this way of setting resolutions to be far more effective and achievable. It's fun, interesting and motivating to start each new month with a positive intention to take with you through the next 4 weeks and always gives you something to focus on and aim towards.
So, if you're already not sticking to those resolutions you set don't feel guilty about it, simply change your approach!
